THE PRESS CONFERENCE TO MARK WORLD MILK DAY, 2022

Dedicated to World Milk Day, Dairy Asia Secretariat, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia, Mongolian Food Industry Association and Mongolian Dairy Farmer’s Association jointly organized the press conference on 31st May 2022 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

Speakers: G.Nyamjargal, Assistant Representative, UN FAO in Mongolia, B.Batbaatar, CEO & coordinator, Dairy Asia, M.Narmandakh, CEO, Mongolian Food Industry Association, G.Gankhuyag, Chairman, Mongolian Dairy Farmer’s Association.

G.Nyamjargal: …declared by the UN, World Milk Day has been celebrated worldwide since 2001. UN FAO Mongolia has been cooperatively focused on the dairy sector development in the country. We are jointly working to support milk production including milk collection, refrigeration, and so on. It has to be highlighted that camel milk production is also important besides cow milk. We are also collaboratively cooperating with herders through drafting the school milk program that can bring an increase in domestic consumption in the country.
B.Batbaatar: …dedicated to World Milk Day, Dairy Asia jointly organized the Dairy Asia dialogue: Camel milk production on 26th May 2022. The dialogue on “Camel milk” presented key speakers from Mongolia (Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia & Mongolian Bactrian Association), China (China Animal Agriculture Association & China Camel Industry Association), India (ICAR-National Center on Camel), UAE (Camelicious), and Yak & Camel Foundation. An initiative to establish the “International Bactrian Association” in Ulaanbaatar Mongolia was proposed from this event. Dairy Asia bilateral meeting (5×5) India and Mongolia was held on 30th May 2022. It will be helpful to the Mongolian dairy sector to learn from the Indian dairy sector development with the ‘White revolution’ movement, ‘Amul model’, and ‘School milk program’.
G.Gankhuyag: ….it has become a tradition, the Mongolian Dairy Farmer’s Association jointly celebrates World Milk Day. On this day we prepared to present the dairy products to 10 000 children in our social responsibility. In the PPP, we are actively working to reduce the import dependence on dairy products. The Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia has a policy to give a cash incentive to farmers and herders for their milk production in winter. As a result of this policy, the productivity of dairy farming has increased by 23 percent.
M.Narmandakh: …celebrating World Milk Day contributes to increasing public awareness of the milk and dairy sector. Our members and a number of milk processing factories will actively participate in the comprehensive event including a dairy products exhibition for the public. Warm welcome!
