Dairy Asia’s Steering Committee regular Meeting was held online via Zoom on 30th June 2021 at 04.00 pm Ulaanbaatar time/Asia. The Steering Committee has discussed Dairy Asia’s work plan for the second half of 2021 and initial proposal on “Asian Milk Week”
According to the work plan, Dairy Asia will organize the following events and activities in the next months: Dairy Asia webinar: School Milk program, Dairy Asia Dialogue: Yak milk production, Consultative meeting on “Dairy Asia’s perspective” and Annual meeting of Steering Committee members and Focal points.
Asia is the largest continent where about 60 percent of the world’s population is living. The continent accounts for 40 percent of the world’s milk production. The diversity in the dairy sector of Asia is enormous. Smallholders with one buffalo, or few yaks, sheep, goats, farmers with hundreds and thousands of cows, cooperatives and even urban dairy farmers are there in the continent.
To introduce the Asian dairy sector to the world, raising public awareness on milk consumption and production, and support consumer food education Dairy Asia is initially proposing “Asian Milk Week”. The process is ongoing.
